Arkkitehtitoimisto Elo was founded in 2013 by Hanna Elo. Specialized in historical buildings and restoration Hanna has participated in teaching and giving lectures on various occasions. She graduated as an architect from the University of Technology in Helsinki in 2007 and has been engaged with many levels of the history of built heritage. In 2021 she was one of the speakers at the conference of Nordiska Trebyer in Helsingør in Denmark.

Karl Emil Sødergren was trained and worked for several years as a journalist before he decided to turn to architecture. He graduated from Bergen School of Architecture in 2016. After a few years of running his own office in Stavanger, Arkitektfirma Årreberg, he joined the Section of Cultural Heritage in the municipality of Rogaland, Norway. Just in time to reach the conference of Nordiska Trebyer in Helsingør when Hanna was giving her speech.

After Hanna’s presentation Karl Emil asked her some questions which started a discussion between them. This exchange is still going on and has led to the formation of Elo+Sødergren Arkkitehdit Oy which joins the forces of two former independent companies.

At present we work both in around the west coast of Finland and the west coast of Norway, ready to take part in various kinds of projects in the field of restoration and new architecture.
